It is no secret to most Capiznons, our family’s and our company’s humble beginnings. I’m sure many of you know the story of how we, along with our employees, have labored to build an organization whose size and breadth we could not have imagined when we started.

Throughout all that we have been through, we were driven by three very important things: 1) love of family, 2) concern for employees entrusted to our care, and 3) a responsibility to the community that we do business in.

It was my love of family that brought me home to Roxas City in 1992. My desire to help in the family enterprise caused me to forego my personal ambition to work abroad as an Actuary and I, instead, made the choice to work with my siblings and my late parents in exploring and venturing into business opportunities in Capiz.

It is concern for our employees that drives us to treat them not only as corporate personnel, but as part of our family; having worked with our people early on as a high school on-the-job trainee during summer school breaks in the family fishpond in Pilar Town. Despite our limitations, I can proudly say that we continue to try our best to extend medical, educational, and other forms of support to our employees and their families.

It is our sense of responsibility that keeps us engaged in helping create new opportunities and solve local issues of communities we do business in.

With SHJDC, we aim to provide quality and affordable homes to our people; with Pueblo de Panay Township, we have significantly contributed to inclusive growth in the Philippine Countryside.

Unfortunately, we have also witnessed many calamities and trials for the past 28 years. Through each and every one of them, we took care of each other. This Pandemic Year was no exception, with our Companies, likewise, affected by the Economic Recession that followed. However, one thing I know for certain is that we remain steadfast to our Mission.

The people in our company and community are an unending source of inspiration. Everywhere we look, despite our difficulties, we see unabashed displays of dedication, kindness and love. And today, even as we face the challenges of a global pandemic, my love of family, my concern for employees and their families, and my responsibility to the community – still continue to hold strong and true.

This holiday season, around Pueblo de Panay Township, you will see Christmas Parols all around you. Our hope is that these PdP Parols will serve as our Beacon of Hope – throughout the darkest of times, the hardest of tests, the toughest of battles. May they remind you of all the things and people that bring you joy, love, and hope, as we look forward to a better 2021.

May God bless you and keep you and your loved ones safe.
