Tapaz, Capiz – The students of Arisgal Primary School here in Tapaz, Capiz, were the recipients of school supplies from the IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines’ (IBPAP) and TeamAsia’s “My Dream in a Shoebox” last July 21, 2017.
“My Dream in a Shoebox” is an annual outreach campaign of IBPAP and TeamAsia that aims to equip less-fortunate Filipino children with school supplies that will help them reach for a brighter future. Conceived in 2009 by TeamAsia president Monette Hamlin and Spring Valley CEO Jonathan de Luzuriaga when he was still the IBPAP executive director, “My Dream in A Shoebox” collects school supplies in shoeboxes every year and distributes them to schoolchildren in need across the country.
IBPAP, TeamAsia, and the Philippine Call Center Institute (PCCI), through the Capiz ICT Council, Pueblo de Panay Township, Spring Valley, and the Capiz Archdiocesan Social Action Center (CASAC), reached the far-flung Brgy. Arisgal in the municipality of Tapaz and distributed 240 sets of school supplies to the students of the said school.
“We are very grateful because despite the distance and bumpy road, we were chosen to be the recipient of the “My Dream in a Shoebox” project,” says Dr. Dem Garbo, Head Teacher of Arisgal Primary School.
This the second year that “My Dream in a Shoebox” has reached children in Capiz through the efforts of the Capiz ICT Council, Pueblo de Panay Township and CASAC. Last year, in February 2016, the recipients of the school supplies were the students of Don Maximo Dais Memorial School in Pontevedra, Capiz and Cristina Elementary School in Tapaz, Capiz.
